Maternal morbidity and mortality were the subject of our March 2022 TA webinar, and our presenters were Paula Krakowiak, PhD, MS, Chief Morbidity and Mortality Surveillance, MCAH/CDPH and Elliot Main, MD, Medical Director and Executive Committee Chair, California Maternal Quality Care Collaborative. Dr. Krakowiak's presentation covered the pregnancy-related mortality in California, the latest trends from the CA pregnancy mortality surveillance system and the pregnancy associated mortality review. Dr. Main's presentation highlighted the work of the California Maternal Quality Care Collaborative, including the maternal data center, the quality improvement toolkits, and 4 initiatives:1. birth equity, preeclampsia prevention, eliminating anemia at birth, and redesigning postpartum care.
